Why? Do ghosts open doors when they can walk through walls

Strange isn't it? You hear and see so many times where a ghost walks through a wall when there is no actual door there. You also see video clips of ghosts opening and closing doors.
So why do they open doors when they can walk through walls and vice versa?
Well, in my opinion, they open and close doors, cupboards etc., to let us know they are there. It's just a sign to say, 'I'm here, take notice of me'
On the other hand, they walk through walls because at the time the ghost passed, there likely could have been a door right at that point where the spirit walks through the wall. It could also be that there perhaps wasn't even a wall there.
I once asked my friend and spirit medium why I had several spirits in my bedroom but not in the rest of the house. She explained that at the time these spirits passed over they would have either been on that level of ground of were on another plane. So, if you can imagine a time hundreds or even thousands of years ago, the land might have been a hill that with time has either settled or has been removed for say, a building to be erected.
